Kadai Paneer Recipe | How to make Kadai Paneer –Kadai Paneer is an absolute heart-winning dish. It is also called Karahi paneer. We can serve this delicious dish with Rice, Roti, Naan, or Lachcha Paratha.
Kadai Paneer gets its name from Kadai and Paneer, Kadai is an Indian wok which is extensively used in Indian Cooking whereas Paneer is the main ingredient of this recipe, also called Indian cottage cheese that is one of the most widely used ingredients in making yummy dishes. Paneer gets the flavor from spices and onion tomato gravy. The use of yellow and green capsicum gives beautiful colors to the dish hence making it appetizing apart from giving flavor and nutrition.
Nutrition
1. Paneer is a good source of protein. You can substitute the Paneer with tofu as well.
2. Onions are low in calories and high in nutrition. They have antioxidant properties as well.
3. Tomatoes are low in calories and have high water content apart from being a good source of Vitamin C.
How to Make Kadai Paneer

For sauteing Paneer
1.Take 2 cups of paneer cubes, 1/3 cup diced green capsicum, 1/2 cup diced yellow capsicum, 1/2 cup pf diced onion and 1 diced tomato without pulp.
2.Heat ghee in a Kadai.
3.Add diced onion, yellow, and green capsicum to it. Saute for a minute on high flame.
4.Further, add paneer cubes to it, continue sauteing.
5. After 2 minutes add all the spices mentioned in the βsauteing paneerβ ingredients list in the Recipe card given below.
6. Mix Gently. Cook for a minute on low flame.
7. Switch off the gas and add tomato ketchup to it and mix gently. Ketchup will not make the gravy sweet as we are adding in less quantity just to balance the flavors and to give enhanced red color to the gravy. It really takes the taste to the next level.
Ketchup addition takes the dish to the next level. However, if you want very spicy, you can skip adding it.
9. Add tomato pieces to it and stir lightly.
For Gravy
- Heat the ghee in non-stick kadai. Next goes the cumin seeds into it
2. Let it crackle. Further, add asofaetida to it
3. I have chopped onion, ginger, garlic together in a chopper. Further, add this to the Kadai
4. When onions turn golden brown then we need to add tomato puree to it.
5. When the mixture starts separating the ghee/oil from the sides, now it is time to add the spices to it. Add all the spices to it. (mentioned in the recipe card below)
6. Further, add cashew powder to it.
7. Mix and add 11/2 cups of water to it. Let it boil.
For Kadai Paneer
1.When the gravy starts boiling, add sauteed Paneer mixture to it.
2.Mix gently and let it simmer for few minutes on slow flames covered with lid so that gravy flavors go inside the Paneer.
3. Switch off the gas, your mouth-watering Kadai paneer with gravy is ready.

For sauteing Paneer
- 2 Cups Paneer cubes(Indian Cottage Cheese)
- 1/3 Cup Green Capsicum diced(1 small capsicum-desseded)
- 1/3 Cup Yellow Capsicum diced(1 small capsicum-deseeded)
- 1/2 Cup Onion Diced(1 big onion)
- 1/4 Cup Tomato diced without pulp(1 tomato)
- 1 tbsp Ghee
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 1 pinch Turmeric Powder
- 1/2 tsp Garam Masala
- 1/2 tsp Corriander Powder
- 1/2 tsp Cumin Powder
- 1/2 tsp Kashmiri red chilli powder
- 3/4 tsp Kasuri methi
- 2 Tbsp Tomato ketchup
For Gravy
- 3 tbsp Ghee
- 1 tsp Cumin seeds(Jeera)
- 1/4 tsp asafoetida(Heeng)
- 3 Onion Finely chopped
- 5 Cloves Garlic Finely chopped
- 1 inch Ginger Finely chopped
- 4 Tomatoes blended into puree
- 3/4 tsp Kasuri methi
- 11/4 tsp Kashmiri Red chilli powder
- 1 tsp Corriander powder
- 1 tsp Garam Masala(mild if you are using strong one, use less quantity)
- 1 tsp Cumin Powder
- 1 pinch Turmeric powder
- 1/1/4 tsp salt
- 30 small Cashews(blend to make 1/4 cup cashew powder)
- 11/2 cup water
Instructions

Notes
- You can increase or decrease the spices as per your taste.
- Take fresh paneer cubes that are soft.
- Tomato ketchup takes the dish to the next level.
- The use of yellow and green capsicum gives beautiful colors to the dish hence making it appetizing apart from giving flavor and nutrition
- You can add red capsicum also to this dish.
